The Liverpool vs Newcastle live stream is a chance for the Reds to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table at the iconic Anfield stadium.

Liverpool are currently in the driver’s seat of what is shaping up to be an enthralling Premier League title race. The Reds have tasted defeat just once this season, and while recent draws at home to Man Utd and Arsenal felt like wasted opportunities to extend their lead, there’s no denying that Liverpool are entering 2024 in an extremely strong position with their second Premier League trophy under Jürgen Klopp now firmly within their sights.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have endured a nightmare end to 2023. The month of December saw the Magpies eliminated from both the Carabao Cup and Champions League, and the previously high-flying side also suffered four defeats from five EPL games. Their most recent humiliation came at the hands of Nottm Forest as former Newcastle player Chris Wood scored an impressive hattrick to compound the misery on Tyneside. Now Newcastle face a daunting trip to Anfield, a ground they’ve not won at in almost 30 years. It looks like the Toon Army is going to have to weather more of the storm before things get any brighter.

It would be an understatement to call Liverpool the firm favorites ahead of this match. The Reds have the superior current form and the historical record against Newcastle to suggest that they can be very confident of claiming the three points and extending their lead at the top of the Premier League table. For Newcastle fans, it could be a very painful 90 minutes.

It's one win and six defeats in seven games for the Toon, whose barren run since the start of December has seen them tumble down the table and go out of both the Champions League and Carabao Cup.

Injuries and a hectic schedule have left Howe's squad looking weary in recent games and that was exploited by Nottingham Forest, who beat them 3-1 on Boxing Day.

Jurgen Klopp will back his team to do the same on Monday evening. The Reds returned to winning ways by beating Burnley 2-0 on Boxing Day and should have simply too much dynamism and quality for the visitors.

Jurgen Klopp's team has lost only one of their 19 league games so far this season. They have , however, dropped points against the top teams like Manchester United and Arsenal in December and will want get back on track and put on a winning run.

Newcastle had a shocking end to December. After back-to-back wins over Chelsea and Manchester United only a few weeks ago, they have lost six out of seven games since then.

As Liverpool kicks off 2024, six familiar injury concerns persist. Kostas Tsimikas (collarbone), Ben Doak (knee), Joel Matip (knee), Stefan Bajcetic (calf), Thiago Alcantara (hip), and Andrew Robertson (shoulder) will all be unavailable for Monday's game.

Alexis Mac Allister might be in contention for Liverpool's upcoming match against Newcastle United at Anfield on New Year's Day. The Argentine international, who hasn't played since the victory over Sheffield United on December 6, participated in training on Friday, raising the possibility of him being included in Jürgen Klopp's squad for the Magpies' visit.

Although Newcastle's injury list is no longer in double figures, as many as eight players are expected to remain sidelined. Additionally, Sandro Tonali will serve the remainder of his betting ban for the first eight months of 2024.

The absentees include Nick Pope (shoulder), Jacob Murphy (shoulder), Harvey Barnes (foot), Jamaal Lascelles (groin), Elliot Anderson (back), Javi Manquillo (groin), Joe Willock (calf), and Matt Targett (thigh). However, Joelinton, with a hamstring concern, was deemed fit enough to be on the bench on Boxing Day.

Jurgen Klopp's side can go clear of Villa, and five points ahead of Arsenal and Manchester City, with victory at Anfield, as they look to pile the misery on Newcastle.

The Magpies sit ninth in the table after losing four of their last five League matches, and their form on the road this season has been woeful.

Liverpool picked up the victory in its last matchup by a score of 2-0 over Burnley FC away from home on December 26. Burnley was outshot in the matchup, nine to 18. Liverpool got its two goals from Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jose Teixeira da Silva in that game versus Burnley.

Newcastle suffered a 3-1 home defeat to Nottingham Forest in its most recent match on December 26, even though it outshot Nottingham Forest 21 to 16. Newcastle’s Isak scored its only goal (on six shots) in the match.

The Reds have been superb in the first half of the season, still only having lost once in the Premier League. After successive league draws with Manchester United and title rivals Arsenal, Jurgen Klopp's side got back to winning ways on Boxing Day after beating Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor.

Meanwhile, things look much gloomier for Newcastle. The Magpies have lost six of their last seven matches in all competitions and have suffered back-to-back league defeats to Luton Town and Nottingham Forest. To make things worse, they haven't won any of their last 14 meetings with the Reds, losing 2-1 at St James' Park earlier this season in dramatic circumstances.

Liverpool may not have had the same volume of injuries as Newcastle this term, but the Reds still have some key personnel on the sidelines. One of those is Alexis Mac Allister who is currently out with a knee injury, although Klopp has suggested that he has a slim chance of facing Newcastle.

Kostas Tsimikas added his name to an injury list that already contains fellow left-back Andy Robertson, with the Greek defender breaking his collarbone in a nasty fall against Arsenal. Joel Matip is also out for the remainder of the season as Liverpool's defensive blows pile up.
